As a university that provides vocational education, Agricultural Polytechnic is developed to be able to produce graduates with a high level of competence in the field of agricultural science. Graduates are required to be able to apply, develop and disseminate Science, Technology and the Arts " in agriculture for the welfare of society. Graduates must also have an entrepreneurial spirit so that their knowledge and skills can be transformed into productive economic activities in order to increase the nation's competitiveness.
State Agricultural Polytechnic of Kupang (PolitaniKupang) as part of the polytechnic system in Indonesia needs to improve its public image on polytechnic education. The study program held has a high relevance in accordance with the development as well as educational needs of the community, and for that the opening of a new study program is based on the advantages of local/regional agricultural resources.
The implementation of vocational education development can produce graduates with a high level of competence in accordance with the needs of the community and industry if the teaching and learning process is carried out by qualified educators with the support of educational facilities that develop in line with industrial developments.
The State Politani of Kupang will be able to realize institutional education if it has the right strategic plan within the next five years. In general, the Strategic Plan is understood as a guide to shared goals, how to make them happen and an indicator of the success of efforts to realize the goals of the institution. The formulation of the Politani Strategic Plan for the next five years (2010-2015) is based on Law No. 20 of 2003 on the National Education System, Law no. 14 of 2005 concerning Teachers and Lecturers, Presidential Regulation No. 7 of 2005 concerning the National Medium Term Development Plan (RPJM) 2004-2009, PP no. 19 of 2005 concerning National Education Standards, Government Regulation No. 17 of 2010 concerning Management and Implementation of Education, Strategic Plan of the Ministry of National Education 2010-2015, Strategic Plan of Indonesian Polytechnics 2010-2015, Senate Meeting of Kupang State Politani in 2010.
